Over 50 years later, still the most ambitious episode

There are basically two kinds of Zorro fans. Those that think the original series with Guy Williams (the most expensive TV series ever produced to that date, BTW, in colour!) was the best Zorro ever- and those who don't. Here is a clue. If you are in the first group, you are probably getting on in years. If you are in the second group, you probably have not even looked at this series because it is too old, and you think all old things are suspect. (A third clue, if you liked the travesty that Sir Anthony Hopkins was involved in, you are probably lacking in perception. And if you think the best-best-best Zorro was Tyronne Power, you are probably smarter than all of us). For fans of the series, this was the fave episode, and with justification. Don't forget that the first-ever "superhero with a secret identity" was in fact Zorro, written as a Penny Novel. And here the Disney writers take that to the next level by having Zorro "caught" out of costume have to take on a master swordsman in full view of the best villain from that series, Monestario. It is wonderful. It is action-packed. It is satisfying. In a word, it is Zorro.
