- TriviaWhen Oscar teaches tactics, the players' caps have names. Pico has Marc Van Der Linden, forward of RSC Anderlecht while Xavier has goalkeeper Michel Preud'Homme. Yves Lambrechts has midfielder Bruno Versavel. The player behind Pico and Xavier, an extra, has centre-back Lei Clijsters, captain of Mechelen and father of women's tennis legend Kim Clijsters. It is Belgium's squad for the 1990 FIFA World Cup held in Italy, to be more precise.
- Goofs(at 21:16-21:26 mins) When Marc is locked in the toilet by Oscar, words can be read on the inside of the door. One of which Boma's first name. Misspelled 'Balthazaar' in the toilet [meant as a joke], a green note with contacts in Cafe De Kampioen reads 'Balthasar'. Officially, it was not until De nieuwe start (1994) that the spelling became 'Balthazar'. On the website, there was talk of 'Balthasar'.
- Quotes
Balthasar "the Ball" Boma: [timekeeper announces there are two minutes to go] Sabotage, he says. You watch too many war movies, Oscar.
Oscar: Your equipment manager has been stupid enough to let himself be caught. He betrayed you.
Balthasar "the Ball" Boma: 'Cause you tortured him, right? Those are confessions under duress. That doesn't count.
[he laughs]
Oscar: You'll pay, Mr. President. You'll be paying, dammit.
Balthasar "the Ball" Boma: [last line to Pico, discouraging him] Oh yeah? And why? He's not there yet. I've known people before who collapsed before the finish line.
Oscar: Listen, Mr. President. For the last time, I -
[Pico collapses]
Doortje: He faints!
Xavier: Turn! Quick. Turn the pedals!
Oscar: Hold on, Pico! You can't stop now, kid.
Xavier: Don't stop!
Oscar: [he begs on his knees] Mate. Friend. Please...
[Oscar turns the pedals]
Balthasar "the Ball" Boma: Keep your hands off it. That's eyewash.
Oscar: Would you want to keep your hypocritical mouth shut, crook? Pico, please hold on!
[ten seconds to go]
Doortje: Ten seconds.
Oscar: Hold on, Pico! He does it, dammit!
[they count down at five, he manages to break the record; general euphoria as Carmen enters the cafe]
Xavier: Kampioen. I'm happy to donate my money pot. 37,000 francs.
Oscar: Thanks, Skavier. Thanks.
Carmen: What does that mean?
Xavier: It means I won't be able to pay my lawyer.
- Crazy credits"THE ORIGINALS" message appears in a framework at the start of each intro with theme song from De nieuwe truitjes (1990) to Love Story (1993), to honor the titles with Carry Goossens (Oscar) in the lead and Walter Michiels (Pico) co-starring. This has been the case for all re-runs and DVD and Blue-ray releases since the 2010s.
