therealkevinspencer16 July 2021
I started doing reviews of hero movies on YouTube now I made an imdb account. This episode made me write my first review. This episode not only had my favorite character Cobra Commander at his best, But Destro laughing at him was something that made me laugh lol. Loved this episode.

Surviving the Game
hellraiser722 July 2022
This is another of my favorite episodes for the show, it's pretty much G. I. Joe doing "The Most Dangerous Game" ok again as they did do this before with the episode "The Funhouse"; You can say this episode is a sequel to it and I'm glad to say a good one. "Dangerous Game" has always been one of my favorite subgenres in action, in a way the premise alone is practically one of the prime definitions of action, as action films and shows have always been about protagonists finding a way to beat their enemies at their own game while surviving to do it.

The main villain the Gamemaster is solid, this guy shows in the world of "G. I. Joe" there are other evil threats that exist outside of the war against Cobra. Which I like because it's a change of pace, much like with the "G. I. Joe: Special Missions" comics where the Joes were fighting different threats that were more down to earth.

His character is sort of a man child James Bond villain, but unlike the James Bond villains he's not following the hostile takeover routine. This guy is a psycho that just wants to have fun and loves to play games, only he takes playtime too many steps too far. Let alone this guy's sense of reality is warped, as he literally regards the world and the people in it as his plaything. I even like that isn't a pushover physically as we see he can handle himself well in a fight as he's literally as big and strong as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin from "Daredevil".

Really like the playing field which looks like the Candy Land from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" which shows how much of a man child the Gamemaster really is. What I like is that the field is more open, and the surrealist environment increases the danger because it's more unpredictable, you never really know what deadly surprises the Gamemaster has in story for our hunted company.

Of course, the stakes are raised as we see who the players are which consist of my main man and woman power couple Flint and Lady Jaye. But for the third and fourth player it's the Baroness and Cobra Commander which I'll admit is a strange combo as I thought it would usually be the Baroness and Destro, however it makes sense for the sub plot.

Having these four together we can see is a deadly combination as they don't mix well, like one scene where Baroness and Flint have a decent one on one tussle which I'll admit is strangely erotic. Ahem anyway, the situation they're in dictates they have no choice as all four are unarmed and the odds are completely against them. It's interesting seeing all four working together, well ok the Baroness is more cooperative which once again shows she might not be as bad as she thinks she is. Even like that she detests psycho as their dishonorable scum that win though dishonorable means.

Can Flint, Lady Jaye, Baroness, and Cobra Commander survive the game without killing each other first, you'll just have to wait and see.

Rating: 4 stars.

Very out-of-character episode
randy-778493 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very out-of-character episode for the show. A new villain is introduced and pits the good guys and the bad guys against each other. In the end, they unite temporarily and take the bad guy down, but he escapes. The bad guy - the titular "Gamesmaster," never turns up again.

This episode feels like a test run to open up the GI Joe universe a little bit, but it really didn't work.
