- Ash and his friends are walking along a beach when they run into a Krabby. Ash wants to catch it, but Krabby pinches his finger before he can do anything. Ash then retaliates by poking it with a stick. While its distracted Ash throws his Pokeball at it and gets his first real capture, but suddenly the Pokeball disappears.
Ash asks Brock why did the Pokeball disappear and he explains that a trainer can only carry six Pokemon at once. Brock then tells Ash that Krabby has been transported to the person who gave him his Pokedex, who is Prof. Oak. Ash wants to see if Krabby safely arrived in Prof. Oaks lab, so he starts looking for a phone to call him. Ash spots an old lighthouse and decides to see if the light has a phone in it.
When our heroes arrive, Ash presses a button, which turns on the intercom, and a voice asks them whom they are. Ash and Brock explain their situation and then the doors to the lighthouse open.
When Ash and his friends enter, a voice tells them where to find a videophone. Ash dials up Prof. Oaks number he answers and Ash finds out that his Krabby is all right and that Gary has already caught 45 Pokemon. Ash tells Oak that hes in a lighthouse on a cliff. Oak explains that it must be Bills lighthouse and he tells Ash to try and learn something from him.
After Ash has hung up, Bill reveals himself. He tells Ash that he studies Pokemon of all sorts, but he is looking for one big dragon like Pokemon (um, could it be Dragonite) he saw one night while he was looking from his lighthouse.
Coincidently when Ash, Bill, Misty, Brock and Pikachu go outside later that day for some fresh air, the same mysterious Pokemon appears, but just as it starts to go closer to the lighthouse, Team Rocket appear. They try to catch the big Pokemon, but they end up blasting off instead and scaring the mysterious Pokemon off in the process.
The next day when Ash and his friends are about to leave, Bill admits that he really isnt that angry and says that the giant Pokemon will probably come back some day anyway and with that last word Ash and his friends start on their way to Vermilion City.
