its a great gritty independent film

The acting is great. It seems to be all newcomers the the film industry i am anxiously more movies from DM Films. They seem to be a future powerhouse in Detroit film making, and setting a very high standard for Detroit film makers. Most films that are supposed to be filmed in Detroit are not, they are only portrayed to be in Detroit. DM Films used the city to it's fullest the good and the bad. It was an emotional drama that touched on life in the city. Jay White the writer of the movie have yet to reach his full potential and i can't wait to see his name attached to future projects. The up and down emotional roller-coaster of the story of Officer Jones(Jay Barry) was a great subplot to add to the already twisted life of Machete(Corey Jovan) and Parrish(William Bennett). Big Herk played a great villain in Doola, and and local jazz singer Marrisa Rose played a great role as Parrish's mom addicted to heroin. I really like how the entire cast and crew was made up of Detroit natives, and with the addition of Dave Kraze topped of an all-star newcomer cast who will have other roles in other films i'm sure.

Makes Urban and Suburban Detroiters Proud
hammmmey11 June 2006
Excellent writing. Realistic themes. Soundtrack good. Film locations provide sense of realism especially since shot on site. Language conveys the gritty urban feeling. Audience needs to realize this adds to the film's local color. May not be suitable for those without an open mind. However, film is a must see for all true Detroiters. Ranks up there with "8 Mile". Actors portraying Parrish and Nick Staley stand out. Bennett and Craze are the film's heart. Audience truly sympathizes with Bennett's character. Craze communicates his character's emotion well primarily when dealing with his addiction and realizing what he might lose. When "in the moment" this actor shines. Best scenes are at the film's end when these two characters/actors are together. Bennett is fantastic. Craze has real potential and innate talent. Eager to see more of him.
