An epic adventure through time and love and despair.

Really, Fantastic Children is an underrated series...

It takes place, primarily, in 2011. Thomas is a boy who lives with his parents and grandfather on an island. Out of the blue, a mysterious girl upsets his life. In his quest to protect her from the people that pursue her, Thomas faces all kinds of danger. Eventually, he makes new allies and discovers that the situation is not so simple at all.

A breath-taking anime with an excellent story and a consecutive feeling of nostalgia, a musical score that worths awards and...emotions. Many, and bitter emotions.

See it, grab it.

Journey with us through time and space into this science fiction adventure and experience the feelings of love, jealousy, longing, hope etc. This 26-episode anime goes through a gradual slow process of building up the climax as you ponder over the mystery of various events for 13 episodes. Flashback recollections occur throughout the show and Episode 14 shows a summarized recollection of all the previous episodes. From Episode 15 onwards, the story unfolds and that is where the action and excitement starts with the climax reaching its peak in Episode 17.

The story in Fantastic Children undergoes a sad mood and closes with the best possible happy ending, given that in the present situation, things cannot go back to the way they were where everyone lives happily ever after in a fairytale kind of story. The ending shows events 10 years later. For the DVD version, there is an alternate ending showing events immediately after. Watching the alternate ending makes the story more complete although the official ending is better.

Fantastic Children is an excellent show for viewers who love good character development portrayed in a story, which is filled with mystery and science fiction adventure. However, viewers who are solely seeking action may want to give this anime a miss or watch the show patiently until the middle of the series as the main action only starts in the second half of the series.
