Quotes

  • Mr. McFeely : [remembering his wedding]  We've been married 45 years.

Mr. Rogers : Have you always been happy?

Mr. McFeely : Well nobody's happy all the time. But Betsy and I have had a big share of happiness.

Mr. Rogers : Some people get married and after a while they get so unhappy with each other that they don't want to be married anymore.

Mr. McFeely : [talking quickly]  I know and sometimes they get divorced and that's all very sad, well I've got to be going now, but thank you for playing the music for me. I appreciate it.

Mr. Rogers : Well I'm glad you stopped by, Mr. McFeely. Thank you for telling us about your wedding.

    [McFeely exits]

Mr. Rogers : Well, Mr. McFeely left so fast. As soon as we started talking about divorce. I guess that's something he doesn't like to talk about.

  • King Friday XIII : Lovely sky, and good temperature. This could be a perfect picnic.

Prince Tuesday : I think it is perfect. I really like it here.

King Friday XIII : It would have been more perfect if we had flown here in a new jet plane.

Queen Sara Saturday : Oh, Friday, you have a one-track mind.

King Friday XIII : A one-jet stream mind, Sarah.

  • King Friday XIII : Have you two been playing airplane?

Lady Aberlin : No, we've been building with paper cups and pretending they were puppets and...

King Friday XIII : Of course, you could pretend they were airplanes.

Lady Aberlin : I guess we could.

King Friday XIII : You could put them end to end and fly them around.

    Lady Aberlin : Like this?

[puts two of the cups together and flies them around]

    Lady Aberlin : Bzzzzzzzzz-zzzzzzz.

King Friday XIII : Something like that. But make sure they sound like a jet. Jet planes go very fast, you know.

    [in sotto voice]

    King Friday XIII : Especially A & L jets.

    [Louder, to Prince Tuesday]

King Friday XIII : YOU could pretend that they are jet planes too, Prince Tuesday.

    Prince Tuesday : I don't want to.

King Friday XIII : Of course you do. Everybody wants to think about jets. I certainly do.

  • King Friday XIII : Time to go, Tuesday, come along!

Queen Sara Saturday : That wasn't long at all, Friday. You didn't give them much time at all to be together.

King Friday XIII : Important castle business. We must return.

Queen Sara Saturday : Oh, Friday.

  • King Friday XIII : Let's move these cups into our baskets now and go...

Queen Sara Saturday : [angrily]  You and your hurrying, Friday! It seems you're always wanting to stop something that's fun.

  • King Friday XIII : Now if a representative from A & L Jets should come, please tell her that I will be in the 'A' Room. Naturally.

Lady Aberlin , Prince Tuesday : Naturally.

    King Friday XIII : Farewell.

  • Mr. Rogers : Did you know any grownups who got married, and then later, they got a divorce? Well, it is something that people can talk about, and is something important. I know a little girl and a little boy whose mother and father got a divorce, and those children cried and cried. Do you know why? Well, one reason was that they thought it was all their fault. But of course, it wasn't their fault. Things like weddings, and having babies, and buying houses and cars, and having divorces are all grownup things.

  • Mr. Rogers : Prince Tuesday said he'd like to be a machine and not have any feelings. But when you're born, you're a person. You're not a machine. Machines just do the same things over, and over, and over again. But when you're a person, you can grow, and change, and feel.

  • Lady Elaine Fairchilde : Corny! Cornflake!

Lady Aberlin : Corny? Cornflake S. Pecially!

Cornflake S. Pecially : [enters]  Well if it's not two women with Lady names.
