In a not too distant future one man and two robots are trapped in a satellite and forced by evil scientists to watch the worst movies ever made.

Being Danish I was not introduced to the MST3K shows before 2006 when my friend Jeppe told me about them. Now our goal is to watch them all together - and after that probably watch them again. The concept of one man and two robots making hilarious comments on horrific movies is absolutely amazing.

So far "The Magic Voyage of Sinbad" is the most uneven experience we've had. I think the problem is that the movie isn't horrible enough in the beginning. Despites the bad acting it could have been the beginning of an OK adventure movie.

But the ending - Oh my God! The highlight has to be the carrier pigeon that lands on Sinbads shoulder - totally ignoring the fact that Sinbad is standing on the bottom of the sea.

And when King Neptune decides to chase Sindbad in a shrimp-drawn carriage we hit the so far highest laughing rate of our MST3K journey.

So be sure to watch all of this episode. It will pay off!

Non Magical Voyage

This isn't one of my favorites but it's a fun episode as it's once again on fantasy films, which I always like. I'll admit the title of the film is inaccurate as Sinbad is a character based on Arabian fantasy. And it's true the title is inaccurate as this film is actually in reality a different kind of fantasy film all together. Probably slapped that title to avoid confusion and may 'be no one would notice; wrong on both counts.

You have some decent skits, not many stand out which is one weak point for the episode. If there is one it's that court skit which was a bit funny as we see Joel and the Bots all are wearing extremely long beards due to todays move and are just court rooming for no reason as no crime was committed, the skit is just funny because of its ridiculousness.

There are a few funny riffs, really like the riffing from non-Sinbad doing a rather dumb and premature thing still in the first half of the film despite good intentions and it's funny how the bots point that out; all I can say is yeah way to go Sinbad. Another was in battle with the barbarians, which sadly was the only sequence of action the film ever had, and we hear Joel, and the bots just deliver riffs faster than any of the character's swords could swing. Or even riffs on that Chess game which is strange as there seems to be a halftime show during play, both players must have steel trap minds to play though those distractions.

This episode is a magical voyage or bust though you can easily guess where this voyage leans towards.
