Linc befriends a mute boy in the park who is caught in limbo between his birth mother -- a recently-released jailbird -- and "the system".
Usually it's Pete or Julie who get the "tender" storylines so they switch it up here and have Linc be the one reaching out to the character-of-the-week-in-need.
The villains in this one are kind of bland and forgettable, but Linda Meiklejohn at least looked the part of a troubled woman just released from jail, with her greasy, stringy hair and nervous demeanor.
It was interesting how they worked the child diabetic aspect into the script very briefly. I grew up in the '70s and had a classmate who knew how to self-administer. We kids knew about it but didn't make a big deal of it.
