A two reel story of Italian life. The plot follows so closely the well-known "Bishop's Candlesticks'' from Les Miserables that it can scarcely be called original. But for one who has never seen the latter this will prove an entertaining story. It tells of a father who steals the candlesticks from the church to obtain money for treatment of his sick child. Later he repents and the child recovers through the prayers of the priest, after the conscience-stricken father has confessed. Some of the scenes are not altogether convincing, but the story is well constructed and the photography generally good. - The Moving Picture World, September 12, 1914
