- TriviaAccording to the UK Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power comic magazines, before she became Shadow Weaver, she was known as Light Spinner. This name was used again in the reboot series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018), when her origin was alluded to in In the Shadows of Mystacor (2018) and shown as flashbacks in Light Spinner (2019).
- GoofsWhen Loo-Kee reveals his hiding place during the moral segment, the foreground is the same as before, but the background plate is different from what was shown during the story itself.
- Quotes
She-Ra: Norwyn, exactly what happened between you and Shadow Weaver?
Norwyn: It all happened shortly after the Horde first arrived on Etheria. Though we were outgunned, there was hope, as long as the Council of Kings were safe. Only a handful of us knew the secret location of their base. Among them my students, Castaspella and Shadow Weaver. What we did not know was that Shadow Weaver had made a deal with the Horde. They would provide her with a Power Gem that would make her powerful beyond imagining. In exchange, she would betray the Council of Kings. I discovered what was happening, too late. I destroyed the Power Gem, but not before she had taken a third of it's power. It changed her forever and for that reason she has hunted me ever since.

I like the story which in a way predates "Star Wars: Episode 3" like in that film we see a young apprentice who is eager and desperate to become the powerful wizard he desires. With this he gets seduced by the powers of darkness and all it has to offer and decides to walk on the path of darkness to shortcut his way to power, little knowing it could spell doom for him.
I really like how Arden character is handled; you really feel he could easily go either way. It's true he may 'be a boy but he's old enough to know right from wrong which mean he can make his own choices. And this is the most valuable lesson he must learn and is them on how the choices we make can have consequences attached.
I even like how the episode is slightly focused on Shadow Weaver and in a way she's the real main character of the episode, in this episode we see some depth to her. I like how we see her in her usual devious fachion act as Arden's mentor as a form of revenge against her former mentor Norwyn and using Arden as bait in a way to bring Norwyn too her.
Arden, we see in one scene Shadow Weaver she takes her hood off to reveal her face to him and of course Arden is naturally shocked. We of course don't see what she looks like which I'm fine with, from Arden's reaction and what Shadow Weaver says you get a good idea she's one ugly woman. But this was all because of a very bad decision she made a long time ago.
I like that we see there is a contrast parallel between both Arden and Shadow Weaver. We then go to a flashback on Shadow Weaver's past. It was interesting seeing what she looked like when she was human as she's in pink sorceress garb though we don't see her face as its covered with a mask but that's ok, we see enough to know she was once a beautiful woman.
Which makes it all the sadder that she like Arden let herself get seduced by the powers of darkness and took that short cut letting the power flow through her and make her into a monster. We see that her mentor Norwyn who of course is Arden's mentor he does try to save her but it's too late. We see she has the power of darkness, but the process wasn't complete, and her bodily transformation was irreversible at least for now.
It just goes to show how once you make a very bad decision there may not always be a way back. But also, in the path to fulfilling your dreams and becoming what you want to be, there are no shortcuts you must work and fight hard, the willingness of going through this process is what truly makes you strong and powerful.
Of course we see She Ra along with Norwyn they of course come to his rescue and we see a few of the obstacles in the way. It then comes down to the fateful moment when Shadow Weaver put Arden in the same dilemma she once had. Will Arden choose to walk on the path of light or darkness, you'll have to wait and see.
Rating: 3 and a half stars.
