An excellent, introspective film

I caught this movie at the Montreal Film Festival. It was skillfully shot and arranged. I particularly liked the in-car shots that pepper the first half of the film because while they repeatedly show the car's two occupants, they never catch them in the same shot. This, coupled with cuts to the windows, smeared with rain water, disallowing our view from punctuating to the outside, created a dichotomous feeling of intimacy and distance. And while there was always a palpable sense of loss, flashbacks mixed with present day footage kept the audience from full comprehension until the reveal at the end. A touching, sad film, with just enough uplift at the end to see you through.
