I like the story, but it's the pure brilliance of William Hartnell who makes this so watchable. I wouldn't exactly call it a fluid story, I find it jars in places, some elements I find hard to believe, such as the stupidity of the Guard, the total nosedive in Susan, who had been tremendous throughout The Sensorites, she's suddenly lost all that spark, and turned into a stroppy teen. However, Ian is great, he's showing ingenuity and audacity, he's suave and clever, but Hartnell is a pure joy, he clearly enjoyed this part, parading around in his fabulous outfit.
It's not perfect, but the performances of Hartnell and Russell make it watchable. 7/10
