With mathematically rather interesting reasoning ("one for twenty guilders, two for ten each"), Frits tries to sell lottery tickets for a neighborhood lottery. Meanwhile, Irma has a wedding coming up and her ex will be there with his new girlfriend. Therefore, she is now desperately trying to find a man to be her date. This turns out to be easier said than done: she considers Lucien too bald and too obviously gay, Frits simply doesn't want to and Gerard has just walked in with yet another very young woman.
