Mork works his magic, and Grandma Cora learns that he's an alien

"Old Fears" finds Cora despondent over the recent death of her best friend, Mork wondering how he can cheer her up. 'Main munchkin' Eugene (Jeffrey Jacquet) offers advice on what old people do for fun: "my mother's pretty old, she's 31!" (all Mork learns is that the elderly hang out in parks and museums because they're free). A dreary evening in the music store ends when Cora receives a gentleman caller, Mork disguised as an old man named Bill C. Hohner, whose presence snaps her out of her 'blue funk.' Mindy is delighted to see such a positive change in her grandmother, until she learns that it's Mork behind the wrinkles. Instructed to break things off before they get too serious, Mork again asks for Eugene's advice, and the kid reels off Paul Simon's "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover," namely 'slip out the back Jack, make a new plan Stan, drop off the key Lee, get yourself free' (trying to break it gently to Cora, Mork figures he should have asked for the other 46!). Fortunately, Cora was already on to him, but cannot understand how he managed to actually become old. At this point Mork confides that he's a being from another planet, and Cora is relieved to know that the strange things she's been seeing lately are not figments of her imagination. One of the most heartwarming entries from an endearing first season, concluding with Mork reporting to Orson the reason why he thinks that hearing is the first thing to go among the elderly: "I feel it's because no one asks them anything, such a waste."
