Episode 34
kevinolzak25 April 2010
Episode 34 begins with Burt awakening in Sally's bed, with no memory of what happened the night before, hoping that nothing actually did, until Sally greets him with "morning,King Kong!" which produces an embarrassed but flattered smile on his face.He feels terrible about doing this to Mary, and concocts a story about an airplane landing on the highway preventing him from getting home until morning(he refuses Mary's offer to fix breakfast because he "ate on the plane!") Tim prepares for his first day at work, hired by Burt and Danny, but quits because he considers himself a jinx, especially after falling into a vat of concrete.Chester now believes himself to be Marlene Dietrich(possibly due to Benson),singing "Falling in Love Again" at the dinner table, and calling everyone "Jessica." The real Jessica tries to break down and cry,but can't because Benson cheered her up.Mary and Elaine share dual mud packs in front of the mirror, and rejoice at their relationship as mother and daughter.Carol gets a wedding shower, where Mary asks everyone if they heard about a plane that landed on the highway, confessing to her sister her fears about Burt(she noticed that he'd already showered with a woman's soap).Jessica confides that "Chester used to come home after a long hard day's work smelling better than when he left!" and that he probably started cheating on their honeymoon("I really can't think of any other reason for the chambermaid's underpanties to end up in my suitcase").

Burt is struggling to come to terms with his one night stand with Sally, she has to confide in her sister, and makes up a dodgy story. Chester is still struggling to adapt to life at home, Benson offers some help.

I didn't think it was possible for this show to give me any more laughter pains, but it managed to do just that.

I loved this episode, very funny all round, with some sweet moments, but I have to comment on the standout moment, Chester thinking he's Marlena Dietrich, singing Falling in Love again, it's genuinely the funniest thing I've seen in years.

The girl's party was hilarious, that moment where Jessica puts her foot in it is hilarious, pure Soap.

Benson was hilarious and sarcastic once again, he's tremendous, but Chester steals the show.

Brilliant.

9/10.
