Jones Worries About Tough-guy Image
Actor Vinnie Jones is keen to move into comedy roles - but fears he will be stuck playing tough guys for the rest of his career.
The former soccer ace found fame in Hollywood with his gritty role in Guy Ritchie's 1998 gangster movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and has since taken on a string of similar hard man parts.
But Jones is worried about being type-cast, and fears moviegoers only buy tickets to his films to see him in violent scenes.
He tells Recognise magazine, "I'd like to get into comedy, but no one will take the chance. I'm not known for my comedy. A lot of my roles are tongue-in-cheek but people don't see it.
"The trouble is you go and do a nice piece, like a film I shot with Derek Jacobi and Vanessa Redgrave (2007's The Riddle) a few years ago where I had the lead role. All the critics said it was a great little film, a great story and great acting but audiences just want to see Vinnie bashing people up."...
