This documentary is simply one of the most unintentionally comic things I have witnessed. With interviews with the production's stars and glamorous producer and flamboyant director, it is a more exciting watch than the actual production it is about. It's greatest moment comes as Judith De Paul (producer) talks to the camera about how Gilbert and Sullivan must have actually been to Penzance (her excitement is evident) and we cut to a 5 minute montage of aeriel views of the Cornish Coast. Pure genius. Whilst I have rated the piece as awful I feel bound to say it is worth watching just to see the production values of a made for TV operetta. At one point a grave stone shakes as a pirate hits it!
