When ALL SOULS DAY stunt coordinator Danny Wayne sums up his job on this JAILHOUSE ROCK making-of featurette, he pontificates "My number one rule on any set is this: everyone goes home alive. No piece of film is worth anyone's life." While this credo may have saved three lives on the 1983 set of TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE (had it been more strictly adhered to), most of the stunts in SOULS seem a little more mundane than dashing around whirling helicopter blades. On the other hand, in 1993 Brandon Lee died on the set of THE CROW from a faulty prop revolver wound, and one of Wayne's other directions to cast members during his on-set instructions is to never point the prop guns directly at anyone (presumably, the camera people and director select angles which provide an ILLUSION that the prop guns are aligned with their movie targets). Marisa Ramirez ("Alicia") says fellow cast member Danielle Burgio (who divides her career between acting gigs--"Esmerelda" in SOULS--and stunt-woman jobs) performed well doing multiple takes of her nude scene on an outdoor open set; "that takes some balls," Ramirez concludes. Burgio herself notes she got a "monster bruise" from being "slapped" by a special effects blood squib during her jailhouse tussle with co-star Travis Wester ("Joss"), which is the bit that gives this featurette its title.
