Stylish mystery thriller
hwknsptr6 August 2009
I saw this first back in the early 90's when it was first broadcast. i was living in Ohio and caught the TV movie pilot and then this episode. I was intrigued by the TV movie's storyline but it was a little irritating in how it was trying to be col and hip. This first episode was much better and really was ahead of its time in technique and stylized storytelling. It had a great cast who looked unsteady and uncertain in the TV movie but really came on strong in this episode. I think they made adjustments on the flaws and weakness of the TV movie and it really came together by the first episode which I think is rare. It was such a novel and absorbing premise I was disappointed it was cancelled. With all the shows like 24 and Lost getting so popular they should really bring this show back because it really was a combination of the intensity of 24 combined with a great mystery like in Lost. It has stayed with me all these years and every time I see a show like Lost I think back to The Fifth corner and realize how far ahead of its time it was.
