Joey and the Actors Studio (#2.20)
ComedyFan201019 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Joey tries to convince Alex to date him. He is also invited to the show Actor Studio and is happy about it but the audience questions are all from women who want to know why he dumped them. At the end he still convinces Alex to take the risk as he says she is different and worth it to him.

The funnest part in this episode was Jimmy wanting to propose to Gina. First, the time when he tells it to Joey and Michael was a very funny scene. And then when he goes on drugs and Gina is all upset about his lack of sex drive while he tells her that she is hurting his feelings is hilarious as well.

Warning: Spoilers
wow, I think I have seen it last night. Are you serious? That's the end of Joey? Spoiler alert! So he finally go out with Alex, thats a happy ending? That's pretty stink, no offense, I like watching this show, to be honest, I wasn't a big friend of "Friends" at the first place, my favorite character has always been Joey. And that's it? No more Joey...like ever? And that stalker guy, he got Joey's black book and get all the celebrities' number. And Micheal's parents finally get married. Now think about it, its kinda a happy ending because they are tiring all the loose end up. And those auditions at the first part cracks me up. Especially the "batman Begins" one. It hurts my throat though. (I hope I'm talking about the right episode)

Adam Goldberg steals the episode...again
studioAT15 June 2016
It must have been hard for everyone involved in the show to put a brave face and make the best episodes possible, while knowing they were destined to rarely see the light of day.

It's sad therefore that such a monumental moment in the life of Joey (him committing to one woman) should appear in a poor episode. The scenes between Joey and Alex are well written, but are sandwiched in between a week 'Inside the Actors Studio' plot and the now regular B story involving Jimmy and as many of the other characters as possible. To be fair to Goldberg though, he was able to turn in great performances with very limited material.

If they were struggling for ideas they could've used the 'Inside the Actors Studio' set-up to turn the episode into a clip show of Joey's acting career across 'Friends' and here, but this was not to be the case.

Drea De Matteo started the series as 'Matt LeBlanc's number two, so it is sad to see an actress of her calibre being reduced to what is essentially an episode of storming in and out of doors. She had some nice plots dedicated to her working in Bobbie's office at the start of the season and even managed decent screen time when being Alex's confidant about her relationship with Joey. By this stage though she is even playing second fiddle to Goldberg.

There are some funny lines along the way, but this episode, of all the ones that were made but unaired in the US, is the one that in places feels flat.
