It's not good, but there are at least glimmers of something decent.

As with the previous episode, I once again see a noticeable improvement from the last episode. I think the main thing at fault here, is the writing, the way the story plans out, the way Colin was written etc. I'm reminded of Frontios, it's as if Frontios was remade on a smaller budget.

I really can't decide if looks well made or cheap, it's such a varied consistency, some costumes look awesome, some look cheap and ill fitting. Why the garish coat theme, even Lieutenant Lang has copied Colin and donned a vulgar jacket.

It has improved though, the story is now into place, Denham and McNally are rather good in their respective roles, and Colin is settling, despite the odd bit of nonsense.

I really want to like this story, I'm just being honest with what I see. Disappointing, but still a million miles better then the last two episodes. 5/10

Colin Bakers disappointing first story as the Doctor.

Warning: Spoilers
Doctor Who: The Twin Dilemma: Part 3 starts as the Doctor (Colin Baker) just about manages to save himself from the explosion that would have killed him by transporting himself into the TARDIS where a frantic Peri (Nicola Bryant) & space police officer Hugo Lang (Kevin McNally) are relieved to see him, the Doctor sets the TARDIS for the planet Jaconda where Amael (Maurice Denham) took the twins. Once there the Doctor is shocked to see that Jaconda is now a desolate wasteland that has been ravaged by giant Gastropods & nothing is left, the Doctor is determined to save the Jacondan people & put an end to the giant slugs plans to move two nearby planets into an orbit around Jaconda which will provide food & supplies for them. Unfortunately that may tear a hole in the universe & the Doctor must find a way to stop them...

This Doctor Who adventure was episode 23 from season 21 that aired here in the UK during early 1984 & was Colin Bakers first story as the Doctor, directed by Peter Moffatt The Twin Dilemma isn't a classic by any stretch of the imagination but to be fair to it it's getting better. The script by Anthony Stevens is actually starting to interest me & things are moving along a bit smoother, the Doctor himself was annoying & not very likable to start with although he has actually grown on me & he doesn't seem quite as erratic as his new personality is beginning to shine through. The story itself is alright to be fair & it's probably a collection of things that make The Twin Dilemma disappointing.

So far The Twin Dilemma hasn't been scary or creepy & the giant slug like creatures look pretty poor, they certainly aren't going to give that many people nightmares. That Hugo Lang's outfit will probably give nightmares to some though as it's absolutely hideous & it's a good job that Peri's around to look at. Plus in the giant slug's throne room there's a bizarre statue of a frog which the camera lingers on just about every time a scene is set in there, I have no idea why & it looks like it was built out of paper mache!

The Twin Dilemma is improving as it goes along but it's still far from a classic, it's average at best to be honest & it just doesn't seem to have that 'something' stories from the 70's do.

Perfect entertainment

Part 3 is an even bigger mess than the last two episodes however it is insanely mesmerizing and absolutely hilarious (One of the best comedies I've seen in years) Colin Baker holds the whole thing together managing to give a very good performance (especially considering the material he was given to work with). I'd rather watch something amazingly terrible than something boring or forgettable.

John nathan-turner producer met me and my identical twin brother in Atlanta Georgia at a tracke convention before this episode came out and pleaded for us to fly back with him to London too be in this episode but at the last moment our parents refused.
