Eddie and Bill by the seaside

Warning: Spoilers
Eddie is due to go to Blackpool to attend the annual T.U.C. Conference. He will be alone. But not quite. This year, Bill is going as well, acting as an observer. Eddie is angry at the thought of a Tory at what is essentially a gathering of the socialistic brotherhood. To add insult to injury, Bill will be staying at the same hotel - the Bella Vista.

Putting aside their differences temporarily, the two men take to a Chinese restaurant two attractive young women - Norma ( Helen Cotterill ) and Carol ( Carolyn Moody ). Well, wouldn't you know it, but the husbands ( Anthony Jackson and Larry Martyn ) of these women turn up unexpectedly, along with Barbie and Joan...

Basically a reworking of Episode 5 Season 1; once more Bill and Eddie join forces to go on a date ( though Bill does so reluctantly ) with some good old-fashioned union bashing ( prevalent in sitcoms of that time ) chucked in for good measure. Actually, I think it would have been funnier if Eddie had gone to the Tory Conference as an observer, but there you go.

Helen Cotterill was 'Shirley Tonsley' in the delightful 'Born & Bred' in 1978-80, while Anthony Jackson was 'Trevor', Sid James' next-door neighbour in 'Bless This House'. Another familiar face - Larry Martyn - was 'Mr.Mash' in the early 'Are You Being Served?' episodes.

Funniest moment - Eddie struggling to remember the alias he has given himself. "Let me see now...he's a film star...". Bill suggests a name: "Lassie?".
