I never liked Ed Wynn. He was one of those guys that was on The Twilight Zone and other shows because he was connected. There were a bunch of actors from the old vaudeville days and the Studio system who were just incredibly awful but they were constantly guest stars on TV shows, or had their own shows. Ed Wynn, Chill Wills, Andy Devine, and a few others come to mind.
This TV series was so awful that it lasted only 41 episodes, back when the networks were desperate for programming, because they needed TV shows in order to sell television sets to the consumers. So for anything to get canceled in its first season, it had to royally suck.
The only saving grace of this TV episode was the Three Stooges doing their thing, regardless of the interruptions by Ed Wynn. For some reason, he thought he was being funny if he tried to crash the Stooges gags. Really obnoxious stuff.
The worst part of this TV episode is that Camel cigarettes and Lucky Strikes are pushed non-stop in the actual skits. At one point, Camel announces that they have sent nearly two million free cartons of cigarettes to hospitals all over the USA, so that sick people can smoke for free!!
