- Jimmy is the unwitting messenger sent for a quantity of high explosives.
- A chemist who lives with his daughter has invented an explosive which he calls "IT." A masked band seeks to steal the explosive from him, and has already sent the chemist warning letters. The chemist hides the explosive in his safe, but his daughter transfers it to a lamp on the table for safer keeping. The masked band meets and the chief explains that a messenger is expected, who will identify himself by giving the pass-word; "Give me a light." Strolling through the hills, Jimmy finds himself without matches and is unable to finish his cigar. He trips, falls down a mountain side, through a secret opening in the house where the band meets and lands in the meeting room, confronted by the masked and hooded men. Other terrors around the room frighten him. He tries to escape but is severely mauled and threatened with death. With his head on the block, and the axe man ready, he wants one last smoke and says; "Give me a light." The band believe him to be the messenger and he is released and offered a large reward if he goes to the chemist's house and returns with the explosive. Jimmy starts out, but the band, suspicious, and try to re-capture him. Jimmy encounters the daughter in the house, and is mistaken for the new dancing master. The band attack the house, and Jimmy finally gets what he believes to be the explosive from the safe. Back at the den he hands it over and receives the money, and Jimmy returns to the girl, who produces the "IT" from her own hiding place.—Copyright Description from Library of Congress
