- Bobby and Liz break the news of their secret engagement to their families and each gets a less than warm response. In fact, Bobby's conversation with his folks ends with him moving into Liz's parents' guest house. Naturally, this doesn't thrill Philip and Simon, but at the risk of losing Liz completely, they agree to the situation temporarily until Bobby can work things out with his parents.—Anonymous
- Bobby tells his parents Mace and Audrey, after six months of dating he finally gathered the courage to announce that it's true love at first sight with Liz Stoddard-Banks. Liz, a Harvard student who is neither Irish nor Catholic, and worse, her 'parents' are two gay men. Mace and Audrey try anything to convince Bobby that they will be 'the laughing stock of the O'Neil family' (to his kid sister Maddy's mean amusement). This convincing fails, so Mace impulsively throws the good son out of his house and fires him from the bar he was to inherit. Bobby moves into Liz's luxurious guest house, despite her dads' open doubts about the 'mismatch'. Audrey calls all her markers to make Mace apologize- alas only for the disowning, not accept the marriage.—KGF Vissers
