The Bolton based comedian is one of Britain's best loved stars of stand-up comedy, situation comedy and appearing on chat shows, and this is one of his most popular shows, for me as well. Peter Kay plays to a large audience at Manchester Arena, with his brilliantly funny and likable material, with observations of things you can relate to yourself. He talks about things like making and receiving phone calls and voice messages, how texting takes over, experiences with his mother and grandmother, dinners and family meals (including emergency chairs), dieting (including Slimming World), biscuits being dipped into tea (or a "brew"), watching the game show Bullseye, disco dancing (including the walk on dance and what gets someone going) - featuring Kool and the Gang's "Celebration" and Village People's "YMCA", singing a high pitched version of "Danny Boy" with the help of a helium balloon. This also features an opening where Kay walks down the corridor before entering the arena, and he is doing this to Tony Christie's "Amarillo (Is This The Way To)", a year before he helped it go to number one in the music charts for Comic Relief. "Garlic bread" was number 23 on 50 Greatest Comedy Catchphrases, Peter Kay was number 22 on The Comedians' Comedian, he was number 12 on TV's 50 Greatest Stars, he was number 7 on Britain's Favourite Comedian, and he was number 2 on 100 Greatest Stand-Ups. Very good!

I recently watched the Peter Kay show 'Bolton Albert Halls' and whilst I'm not a big fan of his style of comedy or how he presents his jokes, I found it kinda funny. Not laugh out loud, but OK. So I decided to see if any of his other shows were at all good, if not better. I spotted an advert for the manchester arena show - 'Peter Kays brand new comedy show'. When I saw it sitting on the shelves, I thought I'd give it a try. 90 minutes later I took it back and demanded a refund. The show was EXACTLY the same as bolton albert halls, maybe with a few jokes missing. I have never known a comedian to do something like that and have lost all faith in him since. Right now, I'm just waiting to see 'Phoenix nights re-cut' hit the shelves at an inflated price so people will buy a series they have already seen just to find a joke missing here and there. I'm almost certain that will happen.
