- A routine flight on the airship "Tristian," turns into a nightmare when hi-jacked by a vampire, Aflred, who belongs to a radical vampire group known as Fleurs du Mal. After making a threat to the Vatican (by dropping the Tristian if his comrades were not released from Vatican custody), Alfred believes that things are going according to plan...until he meets Abel Nightroad, a traveling priest from the Vatican. Little does Alfred know that Abel is not like any ordinary priest.—N.D.P.
- BACKGROUND: Trinity Blood is set in the future, the earth having suffered an Armageddon in the distant past. The Armageddon resulted in a continuing war between Vampires and Terrans. Vampires rule in Eastern Europe, while the Vatican in Rome dominates in Western Europe. Touring Vatican priest Peter Abel Nightroad has been sent out by the Vatican to track down and quell problems that may be caused by Vampire attacks on Terrans. He is also part of A.X, a special operations group controlled by Cardinal Caterina Sforza.
Father Abel Nightroad is traveling from Albion to Rome on the Airship Tristan when it is hijacked by a member of the Fleurs du Mal, a radical vampire group. The vampire intends to drop the airship like a bomb on the Vatican unless they release three members of the Fleurs du Mal being held prisoner. With only flight attendant Jessica Langston to pilot the ship, Abel circumvents the autopilot. When the vampire attempts to circumvent Abel, Abel reveals himself as Krusnick, a vampire that feeds on vampires. Abel slices the vampire in half and before destroying him, forces him to reveal that he was hired by Rosenkreutz, one of the key backers of the Fleurs du Mal. Meanwhile the Vatican has elected to destroy the airship before it can destroy the Vatican, and it launches a heat-seeking thrust missle. Abel orders Jessica to lower altitude immediately, which causes the bomb go off prematurely, and the Tristan suffers minimal damage and lands safely.
