- Alex becomes a member of the Ghostwriter team. Jamal suspects THABTO is connected to the gang of people stealing backpacks, who wear green two-headed masks. The team asks Ghostwriter to find more THABTO buttons, and the search leads them to the Party Animal store where an order was placed for four buttons. Ghostwriter leads them to a locker at school that's connected to one of the THABTO members, but they don't know who. Gaby reveals she also got a coded message in her backpack, and the team now tries to crack two codes and decide to call on Ghostwriter for help.
- Ghostwriter has started communicating with Alex. Jamal suspects that THABTO is stealing the backpacks since the words Ghostwriter showed him are in the junkyard, They and Lenni learn that Ghostwriter can take or move letters from anything to reply to a message from them, and decide to form something of a secret club. Tina Nguyen interviews Gaby for a school news film on the thefts, revealing the culprits are wearing two-faced masks. Alex finds he has a soft spot for Tina. He and Jamal visit the party shop that sold the buttons and masks. They don't get the names of those who ordered them from the owners' cocky son Calvin Ferguson, but Ghostwriter gives the name and number of one who placed the order, Dan. A call to him from Jamal posing as Calvin offering more buttons doesn't lead to a name or address since every member is set, but the group learn THABTO is a quartet. Ghostwriter gives them a company name and a locker number, but they can't make sense of either lead. Gaby reveals the found backpacks have a code in it like the first, so she and the group try to break both.—brainybrailler@comcast.net

Jamal (Sheldon Turnipseed) suspects that "THABTO" is connected to the green two-headed masked gang from the park and that they're the ones responsible for the stealing of backpacks since the words Ghostwriter showed him points to the junkyard, where Gaby's (Mayteana Morales) has been found. Alex and Jamal visit the shop that sold the buttons and the masks without getting much information from the shop owners' cocky son Calvin Ferguson (Wil Horneff).
