So, this is it . . .

Here it is, the one Captain Scarlet episode I really don't like. It's what we get for a series finale, ellipsis that it is. And to top it off, it's a clip show. Part of why the 'The Inquisition' is such a disappointment is because it directly follows 'Attack on Cloudbase', which is a much bolder attempt at giving the show an ending.

Anyhoo, here's how it goes down. Captain Blue wakes up on Cloudbase after being drugged and is grilled by some guy from Spectrum intelligence. In order to prove his identity (without giving away sensitive codes and whatnot), Blue regales his interrogator (and us) with tales of past missions. Not to spoil anything, but something major happens, it was all a ruse, and Captain Scarlet shows up to take Blue back to safety.

The show ends and that's it.

It just feels like a cop-out. They've toyed with ideas on ways this show could end, but milquetoast isn't the way to go. It really does feel like they didn't know how to end it, and you can't help but feel ripped off.

They needn't have bothered with this one.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Inquisition" was an especially cheap and very disappointing episode of "Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons" as it is basically made up of stock footage from earlier episodes.

We begin with Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue having dinner together.... The Angels must've been confined to base?? Captain Blue is drugged and whisked off to a mock up of Cloudbase. Here, he is questioned by a supposed Spectrum Intelligence man named Colgan. He is asked for secret Spectrum codes which Blue refuses to reveal. Colgan says he won't or CAN'T reveal the codes because he is NOT Captain Blue. Thus the start of the old footage as Captain Blue talks about missions and Mysteron threats past as proof of his identity: "I was THERE, I tell you!"

It's NOT good entertainment if you already know the episodes used, off by heart, in fact, it feels like a total cheat by Gerry Anderson and co. We don't even get a few new scenes of Captain Scarlet leading a search for his best buddy, we just get him closing the episode by destroying the fake Cloudbase with the cannon of an SPV and him uttering a line about getting Captain Blue back to the REAL Cloudbase. As much as I loved the series, this episode rates zero stars. It rather suggests that money was tight and this was the only way to make an episode for nothing. They needn't have bothered.

0/10.
