The stock footage of the "Bayside" football game is actually from the Ohio State-Illinois football game on October 13, 1984. The play depicted is a 67-yard Keith Byars (#41) touchdown run which gave Ohio State a 35-27 third-quarter lead. Byars famously lost his size 14 left shoe on the play. Like Bayside in the fictional game, Ohio State overcame a large deficit (24-0) to win the game, 45-38.
While Zack Morris is Principal, he uses Mr. Belding's catchphrase "Hey, Hey, HEY! What is going on here?!?" while trying to settle the argument between Slater and Kelly. As a result, this is the only time in the series someone else other than Mr. Belding uses this phrase. Zack truly embodied being a principal like Mr. Belding.
As acting principal, Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) redecorates Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins)'s office. In addition to Los Angeles Dodgers and Laker's pennants, he also incorporates posters featuring Paula Abdul, Guns N' Roses, LL Cool J, and Michael Jordan.
The date on the script is November 13, 1991 as found in the Dennis Haskins Saved by the Bell Television Scripts special collection at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The episode aired on September 12, 1992.
