Psycho-therapy was written and directed by Joshua Nelson (pictured right), who scripted and starred in a number of New York/New Jersey-lensed horror features including Pink Eye, Skinned Alive (a.k.a. Eat Your Heart Out) and Aunt Rose. This new project, he tells Fango, “is about a middle-aged psychotherapist who is abused by her husband and ignored by her patients. She is pushed to a very dark place where she feels that people who can’t change, or don’t want to change, have only one option—to be killed. She lures the challenged couples to an upstate getaway where she can finally fix them…her way.” The cast includes Rose Fiore, Karla Post, Alfred Cantilina, Michael Johnson, Ernest Romeo, Kerry Wittig and Michelle Michaels; Kevin Harrington served as the cinematographer and editor. Psycho-therapy is currently making the festival rounds, and will screen March 23 at the Jersey Gore Film Festival.

Joshua Nelson (pictured) was one of the busier talents on the East Coast independent horror scene in the 2000s, writing, producing and starring in such fright features as Aunt Rose, Pink Eye and Skinned Alive (a.k.a. Eat Your Heart Out). Now he’s getting back into the scene, making his directorial debut on a short called Welcome Home.

Over the past few months I think I've heard about the indie horror pic Pink Eye a few times, it must have been for a good reason as Halo-8 Entertainment has picked up worldwide rights to the gory horror flick, featuring the writer, director and star of Lionsgate's Skinned Alive. James Tucker's feature, from scribe Joshua Nelson, follows a masked lunatic who escapes a small-town insane asylum where patients are subjected to bizarre drug experiments. Melissa Bacelar stars. Halo-8 plans a limited theatrical release this summer (now that's quick thinking), followed by a DVD bow September 30. The distributor, which has focused on cutting-edge features like the animal rights activist documentary "Your Mommy Kills Animals," will presents its new line of comics and graphic novels Thursday at the Wizard World Chicago convention.

Today we were provided with the DVD cover art for the August 26 Lionsgate Home Entertainment DVD release of Skinned Alive. In the heart of New York City, men are dying in very violent ways. They are being torn up, ripped apart and then eaten. The only connection between the victims is that they all die after hiring a prostitute. Jeffrey is a sad and lonely man searching for love in the city. Socially awkward and fearing rejection, he finds companionship with prostitutes. In a bizarre twist of fate, he and his latest hire fall madly in love. The only problem is that his new girlfriend is feeding on the men of New York City, and there is a lunatic hunting her down.
