- Phoebe tries to warn the gang that Rachel is coming to London to tell Ross she still loves him. Ross and Emily's parents get into an argument over the bill for the wedding. Monica and Chandler sleep together. The wedding ends with a gaffe.
- Ross' and Emily's parents meet and prove quite antagonistic; Stephen and Andrea Waltham enjoy that the Gellers pay for the wedding, against tradition, but Jack feels the list of expenses at their house is highway robbery, so Ross tries to mediate. Joey is terribly homesick, despite playing best man jointly with Chandler. Rachel misses her flight having forgotten her passport, and on the next annoys the gentleman sitting besides her to death who is quite happy to disagree with her all the way. The rehearsal dinner is hell for Chandler and Monica, who doubts whether she'll ever find a partner.—KGF Vissers
- As Ross prepares to marry Emily, Rachel makes a last minute transatlantic flight to England to tell Ross she loves him and try to win him back. However, when she arrives she sees Ross kissing Emily and realising how happy he is with her she relents and wishes him all the best. Now nothing can go wrong with the wedding. Can it? Meanwhile, Ross and Emily's fathers do battle over the wedding bill.—Iantjambo
- At the rehearsal dinner, Ross introduces his parents, Jack and Judy (Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles) to Emily's, Steven and Andrea (Tom Conti and Jennifer Saunders). Jack and Judy have volunteered to pay for half of the wedding expenses but, when they discover extravagant costs (recarpeting of the first floor of the Steven and Andrea's home, a new guest bath, a gazebo, built-in barbecue and landscaping costs), Ross spends much of the evening trying to bargain down his future in-laws (largely infuriating Andrea). Judy continues her criticism of Monica, claiming her daughter will never get married. Ross brings the warring parties down to just the last point of Steve's wine cellar, but Jack walks away, angrily remarking the archaic sentiment that the United States rescued England from the Germans during World War 2. Ross' best man, Chandler makes a toast that is not well received by the guests (he indicates that Ross's first girlfriend was an inflatable sex doll and his references to American culture fail to elicit a laugh from the audience) and Monica is taken aback when a drunken guest mistakes her for Ross's mother. Meanwhile, a homesick Joey meets a bridesmaid, Felicity (Olivia Williams), at the rehearsal dinner and feels all better.
The next morning Ross rushes into Chandler's hotel room, yelling joyously about getting married. He and Chandler have a brief conversation and Ross leaves. Monica suddenly pops up from other the covers and asks if Ross knew she was there.
Back in New York, while Phoebe continues to relax in Monica and Rachel's living room, Rachel rushes out of her room with a packed suitcase, saying she's going to London to break up the wedding. Phoebe, helpless to stop her physically, yells at Rachel not to go. Rachel arrives at the airport and finds out that the the last minute fare to London is $2700. However, she's forgotten her passport and returns home to get it. Phoebe thinks that Rachel called the trip off but when Rachel leaves again, she still can't stop her.
On the flight from New York to London, Rachel annoys other passengers by telling them about her relationship with Ross. Eventually, one of the passengers (played by guest star Hugh Laurie) has enough, and calls her out on her selfishness, pointing out that while Rachel claims to love Ross, she is going to ruin the happiest day of his life, and she should accept how things are. He also says that she and Ross were definitely "on a break".
Phoebe tries to contact someone by phone to warn them about Rachel. She calls Emily's house but she is at the rehearsal dinner and the housekeeper refuses to give her the number of the venue where the rehearsal dinner is taking place. She then calls Andrea at the rehearsal dinner, but finds Emily's mother to be very self-involved and refuses to let her speak to anyone), eventually getting through to Joey at the hotel on the morning of the wedding. Joey devises a plan with Monica and Chandler for the three of them to intercept Rachel. While Joey stands guard at the entrance to the venue, Felicity finds him and they start to make out. Rachel walks in, right past Joey. Rachel sees Ross and Emily kiss after he has urged their parents to stop their argument over the wedding bill. She realizes how happy Ross is with Emily and wishes him good luck rather than trying to talk him out of the wedding.
Phoebe phones Andrea again, who is being escorted down the aisle by Joey. Andrea hands her phone to him and tells a relieved Phoebe that Rachel has come to her senses. As Ross says his vows, he accidentally says Rachel's name rather than Emily's, leaving a shocked registrar to ask Emily if he should continue, while the camera shoots from character to character, settling on a shocked Rachel.
