Product placement: three A-Wings (aka R-22 Spearhead starfighters) can be spotted during the opening scene. This vehicle first seen in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) but not released as a toy until the Droids line in 1985.
Action figures of Thall Joben, Jord Dusat, Kea Moll and Tig Fromm were released in the Star Wars Droids toy line in 1985. The line naturally also included C-3PO and R2-D2, albeit repaints of the figures previously released in Kenner's Star Wars line. A figure of Vlix was planned for the second series, but was released in Brazil by Glasslite in 1988, making it the rarest vintage Star Wars action figure to be produced.
A toy version of the White Witch was developed for Kenner's Droids toy line, but was never produced. Only an early prototype is known to have been built for promotional pictures.
This story takes place on the planet Ingo, where Artoo and Threepio accept two aspiring speeder racers, Thall Joben and Jord Dusat, as their new masters.
As the story begins, Artoo and Threepio find themselves on the planet Ingo after being tossed overboard along with their previous master's stolen goods. This master was a smuggler and won the two droids during a game of chance, but ended up being arrested himself. In the June 2004 170th issue of the Polyhedron magazine, the article "Star Wars Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO" by Handley and Abel G. Peña identified Zevel Hortine as the name of the previously unidentified smuggler.
