Filters, Cues, Ice & Suits

In this episode, the four topics are (1) air filters; (2) billiard cues; (3) ice sculptures and (4) suits. Of the four, I found the most interesting to be the ice sculptures but none of the four were what you'd call "fascinating." Air filters are something we all need and mainly I am referring to the ones in our cars. Here, they show how a huge rolls of paper are folded and manipulated into circular or block shapes. Most of the work is done by robots.

The coolest part of the billiard cues was seeing how they put the intricate designs into the cue. Much of the work making these instruments is aided big-time by computers.

More and more companies seem to be marketing their products, such as vodka companies, by using ice sculptures which make their drinks not only colder and tastier and attractive. They call them "vodka luges," at least that's the product we see being made here. The sculptures are beautiful.

The backs of a suit one would wear haven't changed much in 100 years. Styling has, of course, but not the fundamentals of the material and how you go about constructing one. With machinery, it can be done a lot faster, of course, than in the "old days." However, as shown here, it is still a lot of work, beginning with the basic sketches. Computers help make less errors in the finished product, too.
