The crew of the Sultana come across a stranded English sailor. The Spanish robbed his merchant ship of £20,000 worth of gold belonging to the British navy.
Dan Tempest plans to retrieve it. Captain Gomez wants to use the recently widowed Spanish Marquesa (Jean Cadell) to take the gold to Spain.
The greedy Marquesa agrees to do it for 10% of the value of the gold. However she wants to keep it all and go off to New Orleans with it.
Tempest and his crew arrive at the Spanish island and try to figure out the whereabouts of the gold. The Marquesa also tries to outsmart Tempest but he does not trust her one bit.
This is a story about cunning and greed. A good performance from from Jean Cadell but I have no idea how the Marquesa thought she could cheat King Philip and get away with it.
