When highway patrol arrives at Earl's Diner, there is a two-tone sedan with someone in driver's seat in front of the diner. Seconds later Dan is talking with Earl Davis, a man is seen getting into a light color pickup truck, looks to be leaving. There was not enough time for these vehicles to have arrived during the brief conversation.
The "hot rod" car's engine does not have a supercharger, which (no matter which type) would be easily seen since the engine is exposed. The car would have been fast enough to easily outrun standard passenger cars and police cars the way it was, and anyone who liked fast cars when the show first aired or likes them now would know these things.
When Dan hears that the car made a hollow roar, he immediately says, "supercharger." A super charged car does not sound any different than any other souped up car. The roar comes from the exhaust system and has nothing to do with super charging.
The noise they heard is supposed to be a "howling" noise, and this is part of the howl or whine created by the gear drive on the front of a Roots type supercharger, such as a GMC 4-71 or 6-71. But since there is no supercharger on this engine, one cannot hear it in the film. You do not hear this whine on a turbocharger or a centrifugal-type supercharger, but those types are clearly not installed on the engine.

In showing the hit and run scene- the woman would have been thrown quite a distance from the point of impact, given the rake of the car, and the speed it was traveling. And the mass of the woman's body would have caused extensive damage to the front end of the vehicle, and most likely, the car wouldn't be able to be driven home. Inaccurate special effects, to say the least.
When the stick up bandits first encounter the highway patrol, there are people on the right side of the screen standing in front a house watching the scene being filmed.
Riding in the car after the first robbery, Harry tells Tommy, "You better slow down." His lips keep moving for about two more seconds, but no words are heard. The only sound is the car engine.
Without any supporting evidence, Dan confidently announces the crooks headed to Millvale. He could not possibly know that with the evidence he had.
