At least in this episode we have a handover as Seymour leaves because he has got at a job at a private school as a teacher and is looking forward to caning the kids.

Clegg tells him that corporal punishment has been outlawed. Seymour was always a man out of his time from his first appearance in 1986 and remains so in his last appearance here in 1990. I do wonder whether he is a bit long in the tooth to be still a teacher as well.

As Seymour departs Compo and Clegg are left in a lull but not for long as Foggy has returned from Bridlington for good (actor Brian Wilde deciding there has to be something better than Wyatt's Watchdogs.)

Just like his first appearance he has bought a lot of luggage with him and his walking stick causes a few incidents. However he has not told Compo and Clegg of his arrival plans and goes looking for them. First stop is the cafe where Ivy gives him a free cuppa. He then knocks on Nora Batty's door who gives him the broom handle and then says welcome back.

Eventually the trio reunite as the other two carry his luggage, before deciding there has to be a better way to do this leading to pratfalls.

It is nice to see Foggy back. I think Seymour was a good attempt as a replacement but to me he never quite succeeded. It feels more like LOTSW with Foggy about although he has now joined an expanded cast with Thora Hird (Seymour's sister in the show) having the regular meetings in her house chatting with the rest of the women and Nora stealing the cream éclairs.
