A shot-for-shot indie remake
Leofwine_draca20 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This 2007 film is a shot-for-shot remake of J.R. Bookwalter's KINGDOM OF THE VAMPIRE, which came out back in 1991. Everything is the same, with different actors and slightly more liveliness to it. It looks better purely because it was shot on digital which means it hasn't aged anywhere near as much as the 1991 version. Once again a dweeby guy's overbearing mother munches on neighbourhood kids on Halloween night, with a lot of police procedural stuff to pad out the running time. At least it has a proper plot, unlike most indie horrors.

WOULD YOU LIKE A GIRL SCOUT COOKIE?

Warning: Spoilers
Both movies have near identical plots and dialouge. A dysfunctional mother and son are the last two members of the vampire kingdom, and he has doubt there ever was one. In the first film, the half-witted son works nights at a convenience store, the second film a DVD rental store. Mom, in the first movie was an extremely over bearing psycho, similar to Carrie's mom. The remake was more "believable." He doesn't want to be a killer but mom has other ideas.

The film was supposed to be funny in a campy kind of way but doesn't really achieve it. A woman gets slugged in the head with a hammer- twice and is still conscience. I had my head shaking on that one. The movies have blood, but lacks gore. The camera doesn't film much of the action. In fact the goriest part is when mom describes her killings. The remake is far better than the original...except for the witch's make-up.

No sex or nudity. And my cat didn't like it either.

Borefest Snorefest

This movie is a real bore and a snore. It is a remake of a movie that I haven't seen but still know is a million times better than this remake. The acting is bad, the story and direction are a joke, and the quality of the movie overall just is not very good at all.
