Haley Reinhart may not have received a confetti shower at the end of her American Idol run, but the Season 10 third-place finisher says she got her “This is My Now” moment on Top 8 results night thanks to her “Moanin’” duet with Casey Abrams. In her long-awaited Idoloonies interview, Haley explains exactly how that performance came to be, reveals the movie-soundtrack hit she had planned to sing before switching to “Call Me,” and talks about the little coincidences that led to her legendary cover of “House of the Rising Sun.” Plus, Haley dishes the tough treatment she got in the latter...

We know, we know. We sound like a broken record, but how did this girl not make it to the Top 2 on "American Idol"?! The mind reels...
Haley Reinhart paid a visit to "Live! With Regis and Kelly" on Thursday, June 2, where she chatted a little bit about the judges' criticism of her performances throughout the competition and performed "House of the Rising Sun." Spoiler Alert -- she, once again, absolutely slays the song. Seriously, it's gorgeous.
When asked by Kelly Ripa if she felt the judges -- namely Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez -- were extra hard on her, Haley says, "I could feel that way at times. The only thing I could think of that would make all that make sense is the fact that they liked to see what they could get out of me. They liked to get me all aggravated, the boiling point -- they loved it!

Lauren Alaina Silent in Makeup -- Haley Is Ready
Lauren Alaina is sitting in the makeup chair silently because an "American Idol" doctor has frozen her throat in a last ditch effort to save her voice ... spies on the "Idol" set tell TMZ.
TMZ broke the story ... Lauren lost her voice and could not finish rehearsing for tonight's finale.
Producers have brought Haley Reinhart to the set and she is currently in wardrobe. If Lauren can't compete, Haley will square off against Scotty McCreery for the title.
We're told Haley just finished rehearsing, and if she does compete tonight she'll sing 3 songs -- "House of the Rising Sun," "I Who Have Nothing" and "Bennie and the Jets."

Tonight, it was finally time for the battle of the country teen titans, with Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina taking to the stage to sing it out for the 'American Idol' title. Or was it? With Lauren suffering from laryngitis, there was talk of third place finisher Haley Reinhart waiting in the wings with 'House of the Rising Sun,' 'I Who Have Nothing' and 'Bennie and the Jets' locked and loaded to hit the stage, if need be.
Of course, we all knew there was nothing that could keep Lauren (or her mom) out of the 'American Idol' finale, and we were right. Ryan Seacrest addressed the situation at the top of the show, asking Lauren how she felt. "I'm here and I'm ready to sing and I'm fine," she said. Seacrest then called the resident 'Idol'...

No, we're still not over it.
Our little-contestant-that-could Haley Reinhart was eliminated from "American Idol" on Thursday, May 19, only one week away from the finale. Yes, we were devastated. Yes, we may have caused some property damage in our office. No, we're not crazy. We think.
Here's the thing: Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are talented. Don't get us wrong, those kids can sing, but don't they make for a boring finale? They're both country artists and they both play it safe. Always. We dare you to tell us one performance where either of those two chose a risky song or made daring changes to a song. See, you can't.
Haley provides that edge, that unpredictability that we grew to love over the course of Season 10. This is a girl who busted out Led Zeppelin for Top 3 performance night. We were dying to see what she would pull out for the finale.

Los Angeles -- "American Idol" finalist Haley Reinhart won't be growling on this season's final showdown.
The bluesy 20-year-old vocalist from Wheeling, Ill., best known for her signature singing snarl, was revealed Thursday to have received the fewest viewer votes on the Fox talent contest, leaving deep-voiced 17-year-old singer Scotty McCreery of Garner, N.C., and soaring 16-year-old songbird Lauren Alaina of Rossville, Ga., to compete on next week's finale.
"I rocked it out, and I had a blast," Reinhart said after her elimination.
Reinhart had always seemed doomed on "Idol." Unlike her remaining rivals, cherubic country crooners McCreery and Alaina, the wavy-haired Reinhart had been less definable and garnered fewer votes, landing at the bottom as one of the show's low vote-getters four times after weak performances of such songs as LeAnn Rimes' "Blue" and Blondie's "Call Me."
This season's femme fatale found recent success by boldly tackling classic rock tunes.

Regardless of your contestant allegiance heading into the American Idol Top 3 results-show telecast, there were reasons to celebrate by the time the credits stopped rolling and the season finale of [cue imitation of Fox voiceover guy] Bohhhhhhhnzzzz [end imitation of Fox voiceover guy] began.

And then there were two.
"American Idol" said Auf Wiedersehen -- oops, wrong reality show! -- to another contestant on Thursday, May 19. Who do you think is going home? We're going with Lauren Alaina -- the eternal prom dress-wearer.

Here's hoping 94,999,999 of those were for Haley Reinhart. Scotty McCreery can have the other one. And none for Lauren Alaina. Bye! We're just kidding! We love everyone... except Jacob "Look In The Mirror" Lusk and his hip thrusts. So not in it to win it. Oh, snap!
Well, kids, Nigel Lythgoe got his wish -- Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery -- the youngest final two ever -- in the finale. Our little engine that could Haley was sent growlin' home and we were not pleased.

Tomorrow night marks American Idol’s Top 3 night, that time during which we wave goodbye to the unwelcome third wheel (see ya, Nikki McKibbin!) or the sentimental favorite we were hoping would miraculously end up in the finals (why’d you have to leave, Elliott Yamin?). Come Thursday night, we’ll learn which season 10 Idol joins the ranks of McKibbin and Yamin — and Locke, Trias, Solomon, Doolittle, Mercado, Gokey, and James — but, before then, why not see what previous Idols did right, and very very wrong, during Top 3 night? Which were the best and worst performances on Idol, and how...

Despite the cold, rainy weather, American Idol finalist Haley Reinhart's fans showed up in droves on Saturday with umbrellas, rain ponchos, and neon posters in tow waiting for their hometown idol to take the stage at Arlington Park Race Track in Arlington Heights, Illinois - better known on this day as "Haleywood." Just moments before her arrival, fans listened to Haley's performances from American Idol (TV) on the park's Jumbo Tron, cheering with excitement as the Wheeling, Il. native sang one of her most popular songs of the season, "I Who Have Nothing". At approximately 7:00 p.m., Haley rolled up to the stage in a black limousine, emerging from the sun roof to greet her proud, if not soaking wet, hometown crowd. After reaching the stage, she addressed the park's nearly 30,000 attendees saying, "Haley Reinhart Day! Is that insanity or what? I'm almost at a loss for words,...

The consensus around PopWatch HQ is that Jacob Lusk’s wildly off-pitch, oddly hip-thrusting performance of the Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown duet “No Air” is easily the gospel diva’s worst ever on the show, and possibly one of the worst of the season period. Which is to say, if he doesn’t go home tonight, Lusk will rank alongside Nikki McKibbin and Jasmine Trias as one of the most tenacious how-has-this-person-stuck-around-this-long Idol contestants ever. It's all been building to this, we suppose, an episode of "American Idol" so chock-full of judges' clichés and producers' out-of-nowhere talking points that the show almost became a parody of itself. Suddenly and jarringly on Wednesday, the focus was on nothing but what type of recording artist each singer might become, at nearly the complete expense of critical performance evaluation. And goodness — the reality-show gibberish! All the night, the talk was about who's in it to win it, who's leaving it all up onstage, who's just having fun up there, who's not broke and thus not in need of fixing. Steven Tyler said "it's a beautiful thing" so many times, the phrase almost transcended its own vapidity and became a commentary of "American Idol" itself.

Three of the remaining five American Idol singers this season - James Durbin, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina - are "in it to win it," according to Randy Jackson.
Haley Reinhart must be thinking, "What about me?"
In addition to taking the night's biggest risk with an unreleased Lady Gaga song, "You and I," she killed it with her rendition of "House and the Rising Sun." Watch:

It certainly seems like the producers are behind Haley Reinhart — the American Idol contestant has been given the pimp slot two times during the course of the finals. And the fans are behind her — the dark horse of season 10 has been awarded rallying cries of support online from fans of the singing reality show. Yet, the judges still can’t seem to get in Haley’s corner, regardless of her awe-inspiring vocals and interesting risks. So what’s the deal? What’s the judges’ beef with Haley?

At the end of American Idol‘s Top 5 performance show, I wasn’t sure whether I should pick up my phone to text-message votes on behalf of Haley Reinhart or use it to dial 911. On one hand, I wanted to reward Haley for getting up on the Idol stage and delivering the single best musical moment of Season 10 — and a second performance that would probably rank only a few slots behind. Wednesday night, the "American Idol" atmosphere was "electric" thanks to regal Oscar winners, Jacob Lusk crotch grabs and James Durbin's armpits. The producers had a fool-proof script banged out for our "enjoyment," which included the phrases "in it to win it," and "finding your perfect song." And the night's guest mentor told MSNBC back in 2007 that "['Idol'] undermines art in every way and promotes commercialism, I am sad people love it so."
In other words, this is "American Idol X: Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here."
The theme was "Now & Then" which meant the contestants had two performances to rehearse. One was a current song (or in the case of Haley's to-be-released "Born This Way" deep cut, a future song) and round two was all about songs from the '60s. Elvis is back in the building. Scotty McCreery made his mark on Wednesday's American Idol - which presented the final five, with Sheryl Crow mentoring - by bringing out the big guns: Elvis's sentimental chesnut "Always on My Mind." He sang it with the easy inevitability of bread browning in a toaster. Jennifer Lopez said he'd proven his versatility. "Beautiful," said Steven Tyler. Each singer got to sing twice on Wednesday - one contemporary song and one classic. McCreery also covered Montgomery Gentry's "Gone," and it was a total smash and surprise, chugging along with locomotive energy. "I saw...

The top of tonight’s American Idol telecast was slightly altered from the way the show usually opens: The three judges were already sitting when Ryan introduced them, whereas Idol’s announcer usually gives the trio a proper introduction as they walk out from behind the big screen on the stage. Did you notice that change at all? Maybe it mattered none to you all out there who were watching on TV, but as someone who was in the Idoldome, I will tell you for sure that you missed a glimpse of something very important because of the seemingly harmless alteration: J.

The judges' standing ovation is about all there is to say regarding Haley Reinhart's "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals for "American Idol's" Top 5 "Now and Then" week. The a capella opening gave us goosebumps and she just kept getting more amazing as the song went on.
We were already impressed with her Lady Gaga "You and I" (sorry J.Lo and Randy, who didn't love the risk), but her second song was crazy good. Haley is a frontrunner and what a job she did pulling herself out of perpetually being in the Bottom 3.
What did you think? Best performance of the night? We thought so. Can't wait to see what Haley has in store for us going forward.

For his oldies number on "American Idol's" Top 5 "Now and Then" theme, Scotty McCreery chose Elvis' (by way of Willie Nelson) "Always On My Mind." And we thought he absolutely killed it. If not for Haley's showstopper on "House of the Rising Sun," Scotty would've been best of the night.
Vocally, he didn't miss a note. If you closed your eyes, it was like you were listening to any number of current male country artists sing this song. The judges were similarly impressed. J.Lo called him "well-rounded," though we would add not so much outside the country genre. But still. It's his wheelhouse and he knows how to work it.
What did you think, "Idol" fans? Do you think Scotty's in any danger? How did it compare to his first song, "Gone" by Montgomery Gentry? We thought it was considerably better.

The May 4 performance show of "American Idol" had "Now and Then" as the theme. The five remaining contestants performed two songs: one current song and one tune from the 1960s. Jimmy Iovine was joined by Sheryl Crow to mentor the gang this week.
The competition started with contemporary songs and James Durbin opted to sing "Closer to the Edge" by 30 Seconds to Mars. Though it was not so special, the judges only had good words for him. Steven Tyler called it "nice going" and "beautiful", while Randy Jackson said, "Now you're showing us where you could go as an artist...James is in it to win it, America."

The theme for the "American Idol" Top 5 is "Now and Then." One current song and one song from "then," which Lauren Alaina's parents don't even remember, so that'll be fun. Seriously, have you seen them? They're like 12.
Sheryl Crow is on hand as the mentor, which is cool. Love her. Also, they are cramming 10 performances into this 90 minutes, which means the scheduling is tight. And Ryan Seacrest shall abide no shenanigans. Which should also be fun.
As it turns out, the oldies are kinder to the Idols than the new songs, save for Haley's Lady Gaga (though the judges don't agree on Gaga).
Here are the performances, from best to worst:
1. Haley Reinhart, "House of the Rising Sun," The Animals
Wow, great choice, especially after Sheryl advises her to start a capella. Yes. And it does not disappoint. I have goosebumps right from the start. This is so awesome.

After one of the most competitive nights in ‘American Idol’ history, it was the youngest contestants — Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery — who stood out to me the most!
Watching the last five contestants on “Then and Now” night on American Idol May 4 was like witnessing a “Best of” special — every performer brought his or her A-game. Honestly, I didn’t walk away hating anyone. That said, it’s down to a subjective vote — and if we’re talking opinions, I want to see Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery make it to the final two.
I know there are a ton of people who obsess over James Durbin and I don’t want you to think I’m discounting him in the slightest. James is awesome. He’s consistently flawless…but at the end of the day, I’m not going to go out and buy a heavy metal or hard rock album.

Jacob Lusk came out next with "No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. Randy thought he does not fit in the pop music, stating "I don't think that's the direction for you...I don't see you as Chris Brown or Jordin Sparks,...

Color me dazed, confused, and still trembling with unmitigated fury. Tonight on the American Idol stage, a Season 10 contestant managed to move to tears not once, but twice , and yet somehow managed to get the evening’s worst critiques for the first of those two performances. Oh, sure, Randy, J.Lo, and Steven came around with a Standing O for the second of Haley Reinhart’s two performances, but as far as I’m concerned, the utterly ridiculous performance of the judges’ panel can be summed up with a pair of Twitter hashtags: #TooLate and #NotEnough. Meanwhile, several performers got...

The theme for Wednesday night's (May 4) top-five "American Idol" performance show was Then and Now, and the remaining contestants went out of their way to let viewers know exactly what musical pocket they've settled into with their song choices.
Helping to guide them along was Grammy-winning superstar Sheryl Crow. And while some, like front-runners Scotty McCreery and James Durbin, hit a pair of home runs — including a Durbin performance that was one of the most emotional in "Idol" history — frequent bottom-three dweller Haley Reinhart stumbled in the judges' eyes with an unreleased Lady Gaga song, only to storm back into their hearts with a show-closing, vocal-fireworks display.

Glenn Danzig has announced that he is in the studio and currently recording a covers album. Fans of Danzig will know this project is one the artist has been talking about for some time, and five songs have already been recorded for the album. While Danzig hasn't released full details yet, it's understood that among the song selections will be tributes to Black Sabbath and Elvis Presley. While the Sabbath and Elvis selections, I believe, are somewhat "predictable" choices for Danzig (I imagine he'll probably throw a song by The Doors in there somewhere too), I would like to think he will choose some tracks that might be a surprise for his fans. I could imagine him doing an interesting interpretation of Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand" or a classic rock song like "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals. This is all just speculation on my part of course,...

People are too hard on Nicole Scherzinger. Sure, she sometimes engages in ill-advised extended metaphors about music videos and candy shops. But other times she perfectly articulates the way I’m feeling, such as in her quote in the headline. Why does this have to be a competition? Of course I understand why a group needs to get eliminated each week — that’s how competition shows work — but when every group is delivering such impressive performances every single week, NBC could just air a season of Sing-Off concert specials and I’d still tune in.
Seriously, everyone was on their game last night.

It took a while, but Night 4 of "The Sing-Off" actually had two very riveting rounds of competition. The fab five final groups were left to battle it out. But in the end, the judges pulled a fast one and asked America to do their dirty work.
Before we get to that lame move, let's talk about the Round 1 medleys. Everyone brought their A-game and we could see it would be a tough decision for the judges already. What two moments really shined for us? We said "dayum" when Committed finished its genius medley of Usher songs. Also, Jerry Lawson & Talk of The Town did their usual amazing take on a host of Otis Redding classics.
Now, here's where our opinion differs from the judges. On The Rocks performed a pretty amazing set of Elton John songs. Their harmonies never sounded better and we think they learned something from reeling themselves in during the last episode.

There are times when I’m watching a TV show that I really love that I sometimes sit in wonder and amazement at how compelling it can be. Other times I can be blown away by the use of imagery and symbolism that require me to think deeper about the message being delivered. Finally there are times that I am watching the show and have the feeling that I’m just completely missing the point because I don’t care for what I’m seeing at all. Sadly the 15th episode of the final season of Lost played out that last case scenario for me. As usual I will warn you that I am about to discuss the episode in detail so if you haven’t watched it yet and don’t want to know what happened than I suggest you return at a later date to read this.

Siobhan was joined in th tattoo parlour by Lee DeWyze, Michael Lynch and Crystal Bowersox.

Siobhan Magnus has become the latest hopeful to be eliminated from American Idol 2010.
More shocking for us than Siobhan’s departure was the fact that Casey James and Michale Lynche joined her in the bottom three. We thought for sure that Casey had a huge following out there! Aaron Kelly was good this week granted, but then country is his thing and he has been so weak for so long now that we were really expecting him to be closer to the bottom last night.
As the result was announced, Ryan Seacrest praised Siobhan’s “independent spirit, laser focus, incredible work ethic”. When asked how her stint on ‘Idol’ impacted her and her sisters, Magnus replied, “I did my best and I hope that I was able to show them what we’re all capable of.” Her final song was a rousing rendition of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Think,’ complete with...

Check out these digits: 5, 8, 9, 18, 33, 37. Nope, they're not my winning bet from last night's MegaMillions drawing, nor are they some cryptic clue about how Lost is going to end. Instead, they're highly relevant numbers relating to tonight's American Idol episode: With the hour-long telecast in the books, only five contestants and eight episodes remain in this ninth season, and I've got 18 ideas for theme weeks that Ken Warwick & Co. could use to improve the show. An impressive 33 million votes "were registered," last night, according to Ryan Seacrest. And Carrie Underwood's pals Sons of Sylvia played a song that seemed to go on for 37 minutes.

Siobhan Magnus closed last night’s American Idol show with her rendition of Shania Twain’s ‘Any Man Of Mine.’
During their mentoring session Shania told Siobhan to pep the song up a little saying:
‘Even though it’s a fun song, you’ve gotta put more attitude into those lyrics. Let your character come out through those words to make them come alive.
Siobhan’s wardrobe decisions were as erratic as ever this week. She looked like a thrift shop Lady Gaga with her mismatching dress, boots and bird nest hair!
We thought her voice was woeful, it was all over the place and pitchy to the max! Shania watched from the audience, clapping along in support, but with a wistful look in her eye. "American Idol" producers apparently sat down and said, "Let's party like it's 1998-2002!" Hence, Shania Twain week is upon us.
I don't mean to slam Shania (whom you may remember as a guest judge on the Chicago audition episode earlier this season, where she praised John Park's "bottom end"). The woman's a record-breaking superstar who single-handedly supplied Delilah with enough hit songs to last a thousand phone calls. Sure, Shania hasn't put out an album of new music since George W. Bush's first term, but who cares? Ms. Twain was one of the most charismatic, genuine and insightful mentors this season. So Siobhan Magnus took on not one, but two divas when she chose to sing ‘When You Believe’ on tonight’s American Idol show. The song was first released as a duet by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey and is also known in the UK for being the song which launched – and then promptly sank Leon Jackson’s career after he won the X Factor.
Siobhan’s wore her very own Poison Ivy dress tonight….. she’s lucky that she got to the end of the song before Batman swooped in. After a promising start, she proceeded with the butchery, trying out some jarring new keys to sing the song in. Unfortunately she didn’t chose the one the band was playing in though. This proved that Siobhan can only really do this sort of song if it has a big scream somewhere in it.

When we heard that Siobhan Magnus was singing the much covered Suspicious Minds on this week’s American Idol, we found ourselves racking our brains to see if there was a screaming part in it. In the original there wasn’t but of course Siobhan has other ideas!

Adam Lambert returns to American Idol tonight as this week's guest mentor, and while some folks have said it's an affront to Carrie, Kelly, Cookie, and Kris to let the season 8 runner-up offer singing and performing tips to the show's current crop of contenders, I'm in the opposite corner, totally stoked to see how it all plays out. Let's be honest: Throughout season 8, Adam proved totally adept at molding Idol's weekly themes to fit his particular vocal style, and his general lack of conversational filter should make for good TV -- and perhaps jolt the remaining hopefuls to create their own Idol moments.
