This is one of almost 100 short films that were just recently posted on IMDb for viewing in the United States. I think it's not yet available abroad due to licensing issues.
What I noticed about BELOW THE SURFACE was that although it lacked fancy sets and some of the polish of higher budget shorts, there was a certain undeniable likability about the film. The characters were quirky but sweet, the story unusual and the romance a winner. I enjoyed it so much I really wish that Jeremy Cohen would use this story and hash it out to full-length--it was that fresh and interesting.
By the way, that "rare" saltwater fish they talked about? It was actually just a fancy goldfish. Alas, with a bigger budget maybe they could finally afford a REAL fancy-shmancy fish!
