Short and funny, and that's just the main character

I came across this title when I was following a few items on Alexis Bledel. It only runs 10 minutes so I looked for it on Youtube and found it a good way to waste 10 minutes on a snowy afternoon. The incompetence of the therapist is made funnier by the fact that anyone watching can see what Gene's problem is, and it's not his height. The therapist is nicely played by Seth MacFarlane, and both Alexis and Riki Lindholme bring just the right tone to their parts.

It's amazing what a decent director can do with 10 minutes of filming time. This is a good piece of work, even though it is only a little longer than an average commercial break. It seems longer than the ten minutes it runs for, and that's a good thing. Go watch it!

Extremely disappointing given the cast

Warning: Spoilers
"Life Is Short" is an American English-language live action short film from 2006, so almost 15 years old now. The directors are Riki Lindhome and Dori Oskowitz and the former was in charge of the script too. The way it is uploaded on Youtube, it consists of 3 episodes of slightly under 4 minutes each, so you can watch the entire thing in under 12 minutes. The cast is probably the highlight. Lead actor Levine I didn't know, but the likes of MacFarlane and Bledel are big stars and Cummings, Director and Lindhome (writer, director and actor) are familiar faces for sure too. And even in the very small roles, you find people who won multiple Emmy Awards. So taking all this into account, it is a truly disappointing outcome. None of the dialogs feel realistic. Only one minor example, he would never call his shrink "Dr. Ned", but yeah also during the more crucial moments, it didn't work out. I am not sure if it was just bad line delivery (by Levine) or badly written, probably a mix of both. The comedy feels very much for the sake of it and not smart honestly. MacFarlane with his usual approach walks the fine line between being the best thing about this movie and the worst thing with his cockiness. You know what I mean if you know him. The story at the film's core feels truly uninspired and bizarre coincidences are not halping matters at all. A close call between one and two stars out of five, but I am going with the former here. Yep it really is a big mess. Highly not recommended.
