Chapter Ten 'Six Months Ago'
Prismark108 March 2021
Hiro went back in time to save Charlie. In fact he ended up six months back.

In essence this is a fancy flashback episode framed around Hiro's time travel.

We get snippets of other characters, some of them yet to experience their powers.

Nathan Petrelli could fly when he is pursued by a car but the accident leaves his wife paralysed.

The episode does set the narrative arc. Mr Bennett meeting Chandra Suresh which sets him on the course of finding others with powers but still protect his daughter Claire.

Chandra Suresh was also the man who inadvertently set off a meek watch repairer to his course of destruction. All because he did not know how to handle sensitive data.

This is a Sylar origins story. How he thought he had special powers but realised he was just ordinary. However Sylar could grab the powers of others and take his name from a watch.

Chapter Ten is the best episode so far. You feel now that Heroes going somewhere special.

It was nice to see some questions answered in this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not very good at writing reviews of any kind, so bear with me. I liked this episode because it tied up some loose ends and answered some questions that needed to be answered. For example, this episode explains who Jessica is (Niki's alternate personality that she sees in the mirror). Mohinder's father arrives in New York to search for the people he believes have special powers, and shortly thereafter we see Sylar as he was before he became what we've known him as up until this point. About 2/3 to 3/4 of this episode is spent showing us events that happened 6 months ago (as this episode's title implies), and then at the end it brings us back to the present and we see Hiro finally return to his friend.

Six Months Ago provides excellent background on our Heroes

Warning: Spoilers
Before I recap this weeks plot, I forgot to mention that Peter got arrested in the end. Now we begin with Hiro again appearing six months earlier at Charlie the waitress' birthday posing with her on camera. In this same time-line, Chandra, Mohinder's father is visiting a watch shop. The watchmaker tells him his watch is two minutes (or seconds) early. Chandra is actually looking for the watchmaker who we find is named Gabriel Gray. He wants to test him for whatever special powers he might have. In Las Vegas, Niki is in AA and is living with husband D.L. and son Micah. They visit her sister Jessica's grave which says she died in 1987. Her estranged father comes and gives Micah a present then gets angry when his grandson takes it apart. Niki's "Jessica" alter ego later seems to kill him as payback for all her abuse. In New York, Peter has just graduated from nursing school and has a party attended by Nathan and wife Heidi who is still walking here. Peter is reluctant about Nathan prosecuting their father in a mob trial. Later, Nathan is talking with Heidi about protecting his brother as he drives when they get rear-ended. Nathan flies upward while the car with his wife still in it hits a corner of an expressway causing her invalidity. At the waiting room, Peter agrees to help Nathan on the witness stand. Their father later dies. In Los Angeles, Matt pulls over Eden for speeding. Eden uses her powers to persuade Matt to let her go and eat doughnuts. A fellow cop catches him and tells him his detective exam is in an hour. Matt fails it and later reveals to his wife he has dyslexia. In Texas, Jackie makes Claire co-cheerleading captain after another girl quits. Claire doesn't really like Jackie but agrees to join. It's during a brief fight with Jackie that Claire discovers how her hand can heal quickly after being bloodied. Also during this time her dad meets Chandra and is told about Claire being special. Claire's dad also learns about Chandra's late daughter. Chandra hopes to meet Claire. Claire's dad, however, meets Eden, who he just found, and asks her to get Claire's name of Chandra's list. Chandra tests Gabriel and finds nothing. Gabriel gets angry and leaves. Before he does, while Chandra is in another room, he finds a name: Brian Davis with phone no. attached. Davis arrives at Gabriel's watch workplace and displays his telekinesis. Gabriel introduces himself as Gabriel Syler (after his watch's maker) and kills Davis intending to take his brain. During all this, Hiro tries to get back to the day before Charlie was killed but can't. So instead, he performs lots of magic to prove to Charlie he's from the future. Eventually, she falls for him and reveals she has a brain aneurysm. As they kiss, Hiro is suddenly transported to Japan with co-workers doing some stretching exercises. He then transports back to present time (and rides a bus) back to Ando. Unfortunately, Charlie is still dead...Wow, lots of backstory about almost everyone except Issac and Mohinder. Sweetest scenes were between Hiro and Charlie. Most intense were between Gabriel/Syler and Chandra. Well, actually that would be when Nathan flew up as the car with his wife bumped into an expressway bridge corner. Good background on everyone and I can't wait for next weeks fall finale before next January's new episodes...

The One Six Months Ago...
taylorkingston4 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this episode. Not only is it one of the crucial episodes from this season, but it's also one of my all-time favorites from the entire series.

In this episode, we travel back in time, well Hiro does anyway, we're just along for the ride. We go to six months ago, and learn about all of our favorite heroes. We see how Claire joined the cheerleading squad, and how her powers first developed. We see the first time "Jessica" appears. Chandra Suresh talks to the man who would eventually become Sylar. Nathan is in a car accident, and flies out of the car, causing his wife to be the only hurt one. And Hiro becomes friends with Charlie at the Texas diner. He tries to find a way to save her.

Fun Fact: During Peter's graduation, the song "Smile" by Lily Allen is playing, however that song was release in July 2006, and therefore did not exist "six months ago".

Best part of the episode: Hiro in the diner, or Claire getting her powers.

Worst part of the episode: Niki's Dad, he's so horrible.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.
