In this episode Earl is wearing a Stereo Skateboard shirt. Jason Lee (Earl) is part owner of Stereo Skateboards.
In this episode Earl sets out to help an old man be a lead singer. However the only song the band is ever seen playing is "Frankenstein," which has no lyrics.
When talking about starting a band, Earl references another band that was started by two brothers, "Van Halen". The two list items Earl deals with in this episode are #50 (Kicked Lead Singer out of Band) and #51 (Slept with Ralph's Mom) or "5150", the name of the first Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar (after David Lee Roth was kicked out of the band).
Darnell introduces Fish Tahko when they get back together and tells everyone to raise the roof and then tells everyone to actually not go on the roof. Him asking people not go on the roof may be a reference to season four episode Our Other Cops is On. It is revealed in that episode he saw stuff happen on the roof that led to the death and disappearance of Ernie the former owner of the Crab Shack.
