A former lover of Jemima's, Nick Beckleigh is shot dead in broad daylight, just after causing a stir at a small party, upsetting fellow writer, the rough around the edges Billy Standen.
A middle of the road episode, one that sadly is a little bit forgettable. Pacing is too slow, it takes an age to get going, and when it does, the bubble has already somewhat burst.
This had several interesting characters and some food themes, but this story was a little disjointed, and somewhat hard to follow, I couldn't easily work out who was going what and why.
It is intensely middle class, more so even than the rest of the series, you'll hear the horrible word 'yah' multiple times, it grates in the end, Vee Brewer is the most ghastly character of the lot, thank goodness for the presence of Bill Murray, who brings it down to Earth a little.
Best of all, the character of Arnold Troyne, played by Ralph Nossek, introduced as the party bore, but soon his true nature is shown, and that whole Winnie The Pooh sequence was side splitting.
Not bad, just forgettable.
6/10.
