Mike Jarvis is partnered with Vicky Hagen, and having ensured that her career at Sun Hill starts very badly, the pair naturally fall out.
Very good, it's definitely the old formula that works, conflict, and as the title of the episode suggests, Volcano is the perfect name for it. The story of the crime itself is good, it has a degree of originality, but it's Vicky's rocky beginning that makes it so watchable.
Vicky is definitely something of a progressive character, up until this point, all of the performance drivers have been men, she's clearly here to change things up a bit, she's very good.
I always thought that Mime was on the show a lot longer than this, Beckett was very good in the part, he provided several laughs over the years. He would be missed.
