A surprising case in many ways....
planktonrules5 April 2014
This is an unusual case. A rich middle-aged man marries a pretty lady, Julia (Hillary Brooke). Despite having lots of money, over time it appears that Julia is a card shark--and she keeps winning again and again at Bridge at the local Country Club. One of the victims goes to Captain Braddock (Reed Hadley) to ask him to investigate.

What makes this episode unusual is that this is NOT really high-stakes Bridge--though the money does add up over time. Such a small-time racket is usually something that doesn't come to police attention and why would a rich woman do this?

Captain Braddock's solution is pretty simple. He takes an ex-card shark to the club and has him observe Mrs. Bentley to see IF she is cheating-- and if so, how?

How all this is then handled is what makes this such an unusual case. It makes for an excellent episode--one of the better in the series.

Interesting episode...

Warning: Spoilers
Some of the Racket Squad episodes seem a bit far-fetched,but I have to remind myself that every episode is based on a real life police investigation of a swindle-all this stuff really happened someplace. This here episode has a guy who marries a lady that may or may not be either a fantastic card-player or a cheater. All this goes on in a nice genteel country-club. The women play bridge while the men are golfing. Bottom line,a lady is having impossibly good luck at cards over a significant period of time, and it looks fishy. A real-life card-sharp is recruited to discretely check this lady out and see what is really going on. What will he discover?
