Greatest Boxing game I've ever played!
Em-Pee-Three-Slayer2 December 2006
Man, where do I start? First things first, the reality of the game it feels as if you're that fighter in the ring locked in dead combat. It's just like that. Secind I gotta comment on the story/career mode. I liked it, but some of the features were a little too bland for my tastes, (like the hair). Third I gotta comment on the fighters. A lot of great fighters in this one but I would've loved if they could added my favorites, like Shane Mosely or Floyd Mayweather. I do have one problem with the game though. The controls.I used a button configuration myself,as I cited that the analog controls were hard for me to use,but you won't get the full feeling of the game if you don't use the analog controls. With them, you can control how much power you put into a punch. But still, this game scores big.

Awesome for the good old PS2 format

The bad things are: No.1 there's no Mike Tyson (how could they skip this rough guy?); No.2 the training sessions before actual fights in the career mode are too easy (you can get through them with your eyes shut and still attain valuable points for PWR CHN and other vital characteristics) - therefore I have to play the game with the "hard" setting and fool around with this training part in order the game to be more or less challenging; No.3 there are very few "announcing" girls (while they keep appearing after each round, there should have been a little bit more variety).

All the rest is simply outstanding and the game is extremely playable/re-playable (especially in career mode with your double on the screen - that IS funny like hell).

9 out of 10. Thanks for attention.

The best boxing game I've played

I haven't played a huge amount of boxing games but this is the only one that has ever made me feel like I'm in the ring. Playing this with a friend will have you both sweating by the end.

The controls have been perfectly balanced so that speed fighters can dance around their opponent to stay on the outside and the counter punching mechanic allows the slower sturdier fighters to get hard shots off. You can wear down the faster fighters by working the body and you can take out a bruiser by collecting points.

The fact that you can make the choice to play in this way shows that skill over chance is what will win a fight in this game. Unlike later editions which have been oversimplified to the point that the fighter's style and stats are the most important factor. As long as you have the better stats fighter you will win.

The punches are just so satisfying. This is probably what has kept me hooked on this game for so many years.

Character creation in this game is also great fun and their faces can be pretty hilarious between rounds!

Boxing Gone Bad, but with good graphics
mesasupertrooper17 January 2007
Fight Night Round three is a fun game to play against your friends but other than that the game gets tedious and very unrealistic. Pro boxers are 10 times easier to beat than computer generated boxers, thats highly unrealistic, if AM boxers were better than Pro boxers they wouldn't be AM! Game has highly detailed graphics that go to the point where the player can see sweat bead of their boxer. Game has many glitches including announcers saying things that never happened, Ex. "Iceman with a three punch combo," when the fight just started and the two fighters are still a few feet away. Other glitches include boxers being knocked out and landing on ropes but when the knock down sequence starts, they are on the canvas.

Game has nothing but rap and gets really annoying listening to Akon 17 times per gameplay. Overall I only suggest this game for a party.
