Tunguska

It may be hard to believe, and it isn't widely known about, but in Tunguska Siberia in 1908, a massive fireball devastated an unpopulated area, where fortunately(and incredibly) no one was killed, but one which unleashed a radioactive fallout 37 years before humans detonated the first atomic bombs! Much speculation on the nature and origin of this explosion and radiation has ensued, with some believing it to be a freak natural occurrence(a fallen black hole?) to a crashed alien spaceship(which was explored on an episode of the hit TV series "The X-Files") The truth may never be known for certain, but this peculiar incident will not be forgotten.

Warning: Spoilers
As I wasted time one evening I watch the Siberian Fireball episode; one of the better ones. Siberian Fireball is a more science based episode which has 3 theories. One a meteor. Two black hole anti-matter deal. 3 extraterrestrial space ship. Was the fireball event nuclear? Eyewitness accounts make more a mystery of what happen in 1908. In search has no idea the real cause of the Siberian Fireball! Strong theory from many in science community, but no solid answer. I like the theory of anything is possible in a violent random universe. My astronomy class though it could be anti-matter. All we know is the fireball was from outer space. Let's hope one does not hit my town! Eight out of ten.

n Search Of... "Siberian Fireball" (1978)

Was a nuclear bomb dropped in Siberia in 1908? Or was this massive explosion something from outer space? Possibly an alien dropping something on the Earth? These are some of the theories that are discussed in this episode that takes a look at a mysterious explosion and what might have caused it. The episode does a very good job talking about the events of that day and giving the viewer a great idea of how big this blast actually was. We then get into the various theories on what might have caused it and this does include some who believe it was an alien attack. There's no doubt that this is a highly entertaining episode with some well thought out theories that make for a good time.

A close call

Warning: Spoilers
From the beginning of time man has always wondered how the world will end be it from another great flood or a nuclear war. So few people realize that one day in 1908 the world escaped the most horrific disaster imaginable except for a doomsday event and didn't even realize it. Scientists have debated whether the object that struck the forests of Siberia that day was a meteor or an asteroid (some have even suggested it was a UFO). By some wonderful stroke of fate the object landed in one fo the few areas of the world where it caused no human fatalities. If it had hit a major city there woulld have been hundreds of thousands dead if it had landed in the ocean it would have caused tidal waves that would have obliterated entire continents. It is almost too terrible to think about.
