A convicted killer goes on a killing spree after escaping police custody. The new victims include two police officers and four schoolchildren. Jack wants to pursue the death penalty, but his argument is rejected in court. However, one of the parents of his victims takes the law into his own hands and kills the man himself. The killer's lawyer in the new case is an ambitious self-promoting attorney who wants to use the case to advance her own political aspirations. Jack thinks the man is receiving bad advice from his attorney, but reluctantly pursues murder charges.
